*Pokes you with a knife, then ressurects you*
You MUST watch Cars. Now, the first time, it's a little strange, and perhaps difficult to aclimate to. But the second time, it rocks.
Still Monsters, Inc. is my personal favorite of Pixar's repitoire.

Well that's one I HAVE watched. So no need to kill me this time. I still liked Toy Story the best, man that's just so fun. I haven't seen it in like, four years. A few days ago my family was watching Cars, but about half way in (I wasn't watching though), my brother dropped in for a surprise visit (the one hour one). I only saw bits and parts of it, like that... um I think it was a blue truck getting mad at that one car for asking him too many questions about his great driving and why he quit or something. It probably wasn't even a truck. I'm fired.

Never saw Cars. I've seen the previews, and it totally doesn't appeal to me in the least. I LOVE Monsters Inc, though. That was great.

All this talk about MI reminds me of when I used to write fanfiction for it ages and ages ago. Good times, but I've outgrown fanficiton since then for the most part. I still love the movie, though.

I was always afraid to write fanfic. I usually won't even read it anymore, unless I know the author. I got so sick of all these silly little fangirls writing themselves into the story and miraculously hooking up with their dream character. So many fanfic'ers don't bother retaining the original story and characters. Don't take this personally, Poofie, I'm speaking of fanfic in general. Most of what I've experienced was scribbled out by love-sick fourteen year olds fantasizing about stuff like Harry Potter.

I have never even read fanfiction in my life, I just don't see myself getting into anything like that. I guess the only things I write are scripts and logs with ideas, that and actionscript. Are fanfiction and stories the same thing? What sets the two ideas apart?

Wise, choice, Venom! Very wise choice. Avoid fanfiction.
What sets fanfiction apart from other varieties of fiction is that fanfics are based off an existing work. They're usually sequels, sometimes prequels, and occasionally *shudder* alternate universes. The authors of fanfiction attempt to take the existing characters and premise and elaborate on it. The core intent of fanfiction is to hypothesize what will or has happened in the story that the original creators simply never got to, but usually the fanfiction authors are so idiotic that they rarely manage that. At best the characters will be slightly out of character and the grammar will be barely passable, and at worst you have the phenomenon known as the "Mary Sue" Pipe Organ described combined with all established rules of characterization, plot, and the English language thrown out the window. This type is often called Godawful fanficion, and there was an entire forum devoted to finding the worst fanfics and tearing them apart, but it went down about this time last year and still hasn't gotten back up.
Most stories, conversely, are entirely the brainchild of the author, and therefore avoids some of the worst of fanfiction. After all, with an original story, usually the author cares deepy about their characters' integrity, while conversely most fanfiction tends to disregard.
And no offense taken, Pipe Organ. I know my fanfic was pretty crappy, especially since I actually tried to rewrite the first couple of chapters. In the end though, I decided that it was more important for me to focus on my original stories, because I find it infinitely more rewarding. Besides, I have more than enough of those to last my lifetime even without fanfiction getting underfoot. =P

I know what you mean about having enough original ideas. I've started about eight huge stories that if I ever finish, would be multi-volume. Then, there's the short stories. The problem I have is I'll get sidetracked by other ideas or other demands, and they'll just get pushed aside and never picked up again. I really need to correct that habit of mine.

I was thinking about alot of the same thing Poofie, but that really clears it up now, thank you! I think the spelling and grammar structure has taken a new standard to all kinds of domains and areas, and not even exclusively on the Internet anymore. I'm calling this English 2.0, as there's no way around it. I can bet there has been no language more lifelessly beaten then the English one.
Fanfiction in most cases = Fanfantasy. *cinder blocked*
I have something myself I have been working on with primary bases on existing work, but it's game I'm making in Flash. The work I'm basing this on is called "Raptor: Call of the Shadows", which is an old over-head jet shooter dos game. Anyone know what that is? The engine is only part-way setup, as far as movement and aerial physics go, not to mention the start up screen and pre-loader. I am no where near anything though, right now I'm trying to get the ammunition fired from your jet to damage the enemy, no collision detection! Anyway, I guess that's almost the same thing, in another way. I suppose. I'm fired.
Edited for game name confusion. The name for my game is "Immolation".

Man, I totally do not understand computer programming. I can take a bunch of wires and connect nearly anything to each other, but as for turning it on and telling it how to think? Man, I'm lost. I salute you, Venom, in whatever style you prefer for having the knowledge and the patience to write your own video game.

I'm not that great at it either, at least not right now. I'm taking this a little bit at a time, through lots of trial and error. I got some of the engine working, like flying and shooting, some of the graphics engine too, like self scrolling backdrops, ship and weapon animations and little visuals. Other wise I am absolutely no-where. In case anyone's interested in what it looks like so far, and I appologize if this image is too big: Trying to put a lot of effort into the visuals and presentation, so the game feels more whole and immersive. At least that's what I want to do. I don't have a story for it yet, but I'm sure to make one. Basically you're just flying around shooting other jets, ships, creatures of somesort, giant robotic sea things/whatever, and there's always going to be a big boss at the end. "Active Primary Secondary" thing down there is what is going to be a complex weapon system, where active are weapons always equipped, primary would be a special weapon to fire along with your main ones, and secondary would be the type of missles you fired along with your active weapons. You can only have one primary or secondary in use at a time. Maybe. Active weapons are always in use. Then you can purchase things with money (killing things) to buy whatever at some shop. You'll eventually be able to fly to other places like Antarctica, desert, and even other planets. All of the maps are going to be hand drawn. I just hope I can do it, I don't have alot of confidence. I'm not very good at programming though, so I don't even know if I'll be able to do it. And if you actually read anything I wrote I hope you aren't confused.

I'm impressed, Venom! That's got to take a LOT of work to even get as far as you're at right now. Still, I have faith in you. Besides, colleges often offer classes in Flash, and those might help. Yes, fanfiction=fan fantasy. And unfortunately, when fans indulge in their fantasies, more often than not they end up mutilating the original. Sometimes it's just a few fingers missing, a lot of times it's bad enough to be disembowlment, and there are even a few out there where it's nothing short of dismemberment and radiation poisoning.

*bows* thank you, thank you! I'll even let you guys play the alpha and beta stages of it, if you were so inclined. The only courses I would really need for Flash would be its programming language, everything else in the program is sort of like captain obvious material.. where would I find such a course?
I guess it's what they do when the characters or some event didn't do something/happen and they fill in that self-gap of anguish by pretending it happened. I was in disagreement when Eragon in the movie decided to exit the scene right instead of left. You can guess what I did next. I also added something about a billion malnourished jawbones exploding over a galaxy of cardboard. Nevermind.
