That sounds similar to a text-based game my friends played--there was something involving throwing berries at a bear, if I recall. Still, at least you didn't get stuck in limbo playing tic-tac-toe with the idiot fish queen. Let me tell you, it's actually really hard to loose at tic-tac-toe against someone as stupid as her. And besides, how was I supposed to know I needed to put the coin on top of the newspaper to summon her dead father so I could escape to hell?

Did anyone else have that module you connected to the TV and put the 5 1/4" disks in? I had that. I remember the submarine game, but I can't remember the other game.

Was the submarine game called Seawolf? That's the submarine one I know of. On the big giant discs I have contained basic games like Breakout, Pacman, Rogue, some psuedo 3D-height information based maze game, and a few others. They were all just a bunch of pixels.
I don't remember that module, all I remember of old TV stuff was the 8" black and white CRT I have, with the RF claw hookups and the bunny ears, complete with a channel dial.

I didn't have a setup like that, but I did have an Intellivision, like I said earlier, which was also just a bunch of pixels. Really big pixels. And it wasn't even 16 colors; it was more like 8. XDD Amazingly, I found a PS2 disc at Bookman's with a whole slew of reprogrammed Intellivision games. I was sooo happy! The only one I remember playing that the disc didn't have was Burger Time, which I particularly miss because the cartridge died long before the console.

Burger Time... is that the one where you are the Chef running accross parts of a hamburger to knock each part to a lower level, and the goal was to complete all the hamburgers while avoiding enemies?
I heard the earliest game EVER made was a huge setup in a laboratory where a series of resistors and LED lights would simulate a tennis game. It would about 3 x 10 leds long. At least that's what I heard.

Wow. That's awesome. I'd be so mesmorized by the little blinking lights!
Seawolf... Hmm. That may have been it. We also had a CD-rom game called Seawolf. That was years later, though.

That IS the game! I miss that game. Remember sprinkling pepper on the evil hotdogs to kill them?
I did know that the first game was made in a laboratory, and I think I heard it was actually a millitary one, but I didn't know it was tennis and based off of LED lights. That's awesome.

Well it might have been Seawolf, I don't remember, but I just remember a game like that, and it was old, that's all I know. I love LEDS, I have a whole bunch of them, red, yellow, white, green and a bunch of ones built to make your car flashy (though it's not street legal). If you put their legs in a nine volt POP.
Yeah that was pretty fun, there also evil eggs I believe. I also remember something called "Bagman", where you were a inmate trying to escape from the guards while using an underground cart system to steal bags of money that were lying around. You could pick up an item to knock out guards for a while, but then the item would disappear. How I miss those games!

Exploding LED's! How fun! I think my favorite is still Zeliard. zeliardgame.tripod.com/ This links to a page that gives the opening text if you're interested. Somewhere, I've got a link to download the full game.

Explosions are fun, but I'm not sure they have a place in my comic. *tears* *up tears!* Looks like an interesting game! I miss my oldschool DOS games; maybe a download of that will help alleviate it a bit.

Yeah. It's free, and he's got the whole game.
Ultima was another great dos game. I've got versions 1 through 8, I think. I haven't tried them on this compy, yet, though.

I'm going to look the Zeliard game up, it looks fun.
One of my favorite old games was something called Scorched Earth. Turned based game with little tanks where you aimed and shot. It was almost like Worms, you would control the power and direction of the shot and it would fly out and hit your enemy and do some damage to the landscape (or just hit the landscape if you missed).
My favorite though will ALWAYS be Doom/Doom II (same engine, Doom II has just more enemies and introduced a new weapon). My brother got me a special package called id anthology, and it contained all of id software's vintage game (lots of stuff before Wolfenstein) and everything up to Quake. It can only be found on ebay now, they didn't make alot and it was made a long time ago. It also came with a cyber-demon pewter statue, a weird Doom comic book, a poster, a pre-paid phone card (expired!) and a T-shirt. Unfortunately, there was no T-shirt in my box, guess the person on e-bay didn't have it.

I don't remember Doom. I remember Wolfenstein. I could only play that with the invincibility cheat. I'm really not too hot with video games. I also remember Duke Nukem. That was another old scrolling game. Unfortunately, all I really remember is how colorful it was.

(looks at title) Hey look finally a "Significant Minor Character". Now my roles include comic relief through breif appearences and doing something stupid then going off stage. I'd do that as a main character too. I'd make all characters do that. It would turn out pretty awful.
Scrolling game?? Wasn't Duke Nukem a first person shooter type? I remember playing the demo for the PC and the game for the..... Gameboy Advanced.. I know, lame. Colorful pixels!

No, there was a little guy on the screen that you moved around. I remember him having reddish hair. Of course, this was back in the eighties. Remember the original GameBoys? They used to be the hottest thing out there.
