Hello, I'm Cory, a friend of teh-Poofie from NAU.
I'm a photography major and I'm learning German as a side and as my major. ;D
I have not actually done much in the way of web comics, being a bad artist, but I have been considerizing video podcasts and a few other things. I write sometimes on a blog, and if I had more room, I would have a model railroad in the dorm - because sometimes, it's great to just sit and watch a train go around in a little circle.
I don't know what else to say, so I won't say anything else!
Have a Happy Tuesday! ~Cory

I love model train sets. My BF has a whole bunch of equipment, but its all just sitting up in his attic. One of these days I'll get him to set it up.

Welcome Cory, it's nice to see new people here! Nice combination of majors, I have some generals and commanders... get it?? Ughhh. You should go to Germany and take pictures. It all sounds interesting, so, glad you can be here. I salute you.

Thank you all for the kind welcomes. I also [heart] my train set(s), I haven't even seen most of it in the years since my family moved to Washington, I am thinking of selecting some of it and bringing it to the dorm next year anyway, something to set up on the weekends, possibly. And yes, we do need to do the Cowden Capers video. You should stick around next weekend, Poofie!

If you set up the train set, you should have it circle the upper part of the room to conserve space and yet still have the awesomeness.
I actually am going home this weekend. It's partially from going through dog and parental unit withdrawl, but also because I need sleep. I just don't sleep well here in the dorms; I think it's all the artificial light.

Ahh.... yes, blinkenlights, much? I actually like the blinkenlights in the dorm, Idon't know if i'd be able to sleep in complete darkness.... Or would I? Circling the room near the ceiling would be cool, but I'd probably just set it up on weekends or whatever - easier.

Actually, there are studies that say you'd probably sleep better in complete darkness. There's this third level of sleep that's deeper than REM, and people under artificial lights actually reach that point much, much less frequently than those who sleep in darkness. Not only that, but they don't stay in that level for nearly as long as those in darkness.
On weekends? ...Do you mean to dismantle the entire set every Sunday night, or are you just being weird?

Well, if you have space under the bed, you can get a cheap sheet of plywood and set it up on that. Then, you'd be able to just slide it in and out when you want it. I've done that with action figures and legos alot.

It's not too hard to assemble/disassemble the tracks... the plywood idea is a good one, but under the bed is box storage, probably one of which would have the tracks+trains. I did think about getting a really tiny train, like a Märklin Z-scale kit, but those are prohibitively expensive. Almost as much as Adobe CS3/edu!

Jeebus! Why the heck is it soooo expensive for a little train? Absolutely absurd.

Ahh. I know what that's like. I actually don't have underbed storage anymore. My new bed is on a solid box with drawers in it, so there's no way of putting anything underneath it.

I suppose it takes precision tooling and whatnot for the little train. Plus it's German - Everything German is outrageously expensive.
*begins to suspect Germans of controlling the pricing for CS3*

*laughs* Ah, Cory, don't be going all conspiracy theorist on us now! And actually, it's not a German thing--it's generally a European thing. >.<

That's okay I suppose, when quality is at stake, I am usually willing to pay/wait/do-more-chores a bit more for something that I know will last longer or be more durable.
