My dog seems to have grown out of the random just pick it up and chew it stage, at least, for the most part. If I leave dishes on the counter, he'll grab those. And any kind of food wrapper. Although yesterday, when I had to take him back to the vet, I had a problem. After the procedure, I put him back into the car because the waiting room was full of other animals. I ran back in to pay, and when I came out, he'd started chewing on a can of beans. The can was dented, but he hadn't gotten into it yet.

How does he get up on the counter? Unless your dog can stand up high or the counters are low. My dogs don't do any thing like that anymore, well I don't know about the one we always keep outside, but other than that no.
I have no more dog stories.
Though my Chihuahua starts to run away when I begin to chase him, and I stop after a few feet and he still runs all the way to the other side of the house, it's funny!

He's big enough to stand up and reach the counter. It's kind of a mixed blessing that he's getting to the age where it'd better be worth all that effort. At times, he is surprisingly well-behaved. He'll actually let me vacuum him, if I use a small hand-held roller attatchment. He won't let me clip his nails, but he'll let the vet do it.

Haha... vacuum, that's funny. Any animal I know of will run like the world ends in another four seconds. However, never hold a cat when you start a vacuum. Though I've mentioned that already, it's good advice.

He'd learned to ignore it before I tried this. When he was younger, he'd have fits, but he's old enough now to realize it's a good thing. He doesn't beg to be vacuumed, but he will stand there and let me do it. Might we draw the inference that someone we know has scratch scars on his arms from the aforementioned advice?

My uncle vacuums his dogs too. My two brave dogs are too small, though, and Pippen the shedder is such a huge coward he'll vacate the room if he hears it turn on. He's such a wuss. A cute wuss, but still a wuss.

No scars here, but I did try to interfere a cat fight once. (insert Homer Simpson D'oh here).
Ha that is pretty funny, I've never even heard of vaccuming a dog before. My dogs are afraid of almost anything. For instance, one is afraid of fans, and anything that makes noise. What a joke. I don't think I'll try that vacuum trick, don't think it would end well. I just got an evil idea. put all my cats in a room, put a vauum in there. Plug it in and turn it on then exit the room and close the door. No, bad idea, scratch that.

I have to do something. Mine sheds by the handful no matter what time of the year it is.
HAHA! Scratch that! Love the pun, there.

Yeah, that's why my uncle vacuums his dogs, too. We have something called a shed ender that we use on Pippen, and every time we virtually get a Pippen out of the Pippen. It's a little scary. XD
Yay! Puns!

What is the "shed ender"? My dog loses handfuls of fur every time I pet him. I would love to stop that, even for a bit. My BF is having cat problems. His cat uses her litterbox, but she goes in other places in the house, too. Unfortunately, he's gone at his job all day, so training her is a difficulty. He's thinking about letting me take her for a couple of weeks and seeing if I can train her a bit. My carpet's going to be replaced by the end of summer anyway.

Shed Ender sounds almost like something you use on the yard shed to stop it from attacking your garden - or like the vacuum attachment that you're apparently supposed to use on pets (and people-hair too!). My family has one of those vacuum attachments, pretty entertaining little thing.

It also sounds like something you would give a name to an explosive for the purpose of blowing the shed up.
A new carpet huh? What kind are you getting it replaced with? Installing those things are always a hassle, at least from my experience. I remember replacing the kitchen tiles...

I want to do some kind of cheap laminate flooring. Hard floors are so much easier to clean than carpet, and carpeting just isn't my style. The previous occupant ripped the carpet out of the bedroom and finished the floor in there, and it's so delightfully easy to just run a duster in there rather than hauling out the vacuum.
As for the shed-ender, I've been using the mini-brush head for vacuuming furniture. It helps, but he still sheds like crazy. I'd be interested in trying the one for people. That sounds neat!

I'm not sure which I prefer, they both sound qually as nice. Though a different floor would definitely change the way you feel in a room. My room has pitch black wallpaper and brown carpeting. It just makes me feel a certain way, if it were changed, I would feel different.
