Toast?
"Sh sh sh. Not now, son. I'm making....TOAST!"
What are these student loan refund shenanigans of which you speak?

I got a student loan to help pay, and second semester, I found a big check in the mail [from NAU/Bursar's office] for no apparent reason. It's enough to buy CS3, and a few other nice apps.
So I could probably get CS3 on my own, but going halvsies always makes it less painful.
doo dee doo.

Hm...Maybe I should just give you that $250 soon and make up the difference this summer. Makes more sense and averages out, anyway!

Well, I'm stitll not totally sure what the parentals would think of the charge for it suddenly appearing, so maybe I should give my mother a ring on the fellytone first. I intend to use this CS3 for like, the next eight years at least (as long as both my current digital camera, and the iMac, and whichever lasts longer.) so it's probably worth it in the long run. If you'd like, I can buy CS3 and share it with you and you can pay for your half whenever you've got the money, or next semester or whatever.

How much different is CS3 from CS2? I'm still stuck down in Flash 6, which I got cheap for my birthday a long long time ago. Sometime when the Egyptian compression artifacts were hiding in coffins and preparing to get all over people's computers.

The main advantage is that it runs fast on Macs with Intel processors, at least for everything I do. For certain things, CS2 is honestly faster on my 7-year-old laptop than it is on new macs with Intel processors.
I forgot if it was this thread, but I just got back from selling some books, just two - and I got $55. I'm going to wait until I sell the rest, I may just get toast 8 using booksellingcash. (though that adaptor is of higher priority.)

I got some good news today. My BF got some awesome music recording software, and he thinks he can install it on two computers simultaneously. It's on his office computer, but if he can put it on two, he'll skip his home computer and put it on mine for me! I really hope it works out!

oooh! Audio recording software? Are you going to start a podcast? a webcomic about podcasting? a podcomic? a comiccast? Thinking of recording all of your posts as audio files and just linking to them? Have fun with if you can/do get that!

I doubt I'll get that much into it. I've been in some situations lately where recording a practice CD would be a great thing, and I didn't have the means to do that. Pretty small scale, actually.

Ah, so not something where everything you say will go through the recording app? When I first played with inDesign a few years ago, I did almost everything in it - like, lists, tables, presentations... I went insane. - I'll probably do the same if/when I get AdobeCS3 too.

Probably not. I'm pretty low-tech.
I do want to get more into composition, so the recording would be a huge help with that. I'm really hoping the software situation works out. It looks like fun!

I might call my parental units so I can just pay you for it and get it over with--otherwise, you may never get paid. And I'm hoping I can stick with CS3 for a long time too. I just hope that CS4 doesn't come out while I'm still here in college, because NAU might latch onto it and make me buy it for my computer imaging courses. I've already gone through the one-version-behind nightmare this semester, and it's painful. >.< I hope the recording equipment works out too! It does sound like it'll be good for composing. Though actually, you could do a music blog like the guy who did "Re: Your Brains."

I'm the kind that won't upgrade until at least another 2 of 3 have passed, I want to get more from my money and just use up all the steam from a previous version.
That reminds me, what's good for voice-acting? My ten dollar Logitech mic doesn't seem to cut it.
Though I agree you should do something neat with your music though, I would love to hear it sometime.

I'm learning my hardware is somewhat deficient. I don't know when I'll actually be getting around to doing this stuff, unfortunately. Venom, I'd go to a music store and ask them about an inexpensive vocal mike. You should be able to get something acceptable for around twenty. Make sure to tell them what kind of connection you have on your computer, though. You may need some adapters.

I used a Sony FV-100 (I think that's what it was) for awhile, it's monophonic but it works with my computer, and my camcorder pretty well.
As far as being paid, whenever would be fine - I still need to check with my parental units to see if buying CS3 before summer would be acceptable.
As far as new versions, I'm sure you "could" just go use the openlab or the VC lab where they'll probably have the software you need.
